Congratulations Y11 2025!
Students at West Kirby Grammar School are celebrating a remarkable set of GCSE results this summer, marking a significant step forward and one of the school’s strongest ever years of performance.
An exceptional 23% of all grades were awarded at Grade 9, with 46% at Grades 9–8 and 67% at Grades 9–7. Thirteen percent of students achieved straight Grade 9–8s across all their subjects, and the school’s Attainment 8 score stands at an outstanding 7.1 – a clear reflection of the high academic standards consistently achieved across the full breadth of the curriculum.
Although national Progress 8 figures have not been released this year due to the impact of the pandemic on KS2 SATs, internal analysis using SISRA’s Subject Progress Index indicates that students at WKGS made nearly a full grade more progress than expected compared to students nationally with similar starting points.
These results reflect not only the talent, commitment and resilience of the students, but also the expertise and care of the staff who have guided them throughout their journey. From the classroom to the concert stage, the sports field to student leadership, students at WKGS benefit from a rich and broad education that enables them to thrive in every sense.
Success has been seen across all subject areas, with every department contributing to the overall strength of this year’s outcomes. The breadth of the curriculum, along with the school’s commitment to personal development and high aspirations, means that students leave Key Stage 4 exceptionally well-prepared for the future.
The vast majority of students will now go on to continue their studies in the WKGS Sixth Form, where they will be joined by new students from other schools in September. Others will pursue alternative routes such as apprenticeships or vocational pathways, and the school wishes them all every success in the next stage of their journey.
The whole WKGS community is proud of what this cohort has achieved, not only in terms of grades, but in the confidence, independence and ambition they now take forward with them.
