The Business and Economics department consists of two teachers, who are subject specialists and passionate about their specialty.

At Key Stage 4 pupils are able to choose GCSE Business as an option choice, commencing the course at the start of Year 10, with three lessons per week. The course actively engages students in all aspects of operating and managing a business. Student are engaged through live case studies and projects starting and growing a small business, carrying out market research and identifying a business opportunity through to investigating topics such as Enterprise and Entrepreneurship; Marketing; Finance; Human Resources; Production Management and Wider Economic issues.

We aim to promote curiosity of the business world and encourage our students to question the choices various businesses have made. During lessons, pupils are encouraged to closely monitor and report on economic markets, news events and business developments, both nationally and internationally, in order to bring relevant context into their studies.

Recent GCSE Business trips have included Blackpool Pleasure Beach; Alton Towers, Chester Zoo, Cadbury’s World, National Careers Challenge Day and talks from local businesses.
