Congratulations WKGS Y13 2026!
Students at West Kirby Grammar School are celebrating another exceptional set of A Level results, securing outstanding academic outcomes that will now see them progress to an exciting range of destinations including leading universities, competitive degree apprenticeships, employment and other ambitious next steps.
This year's results represent one of the strongest performances in the school's history, with students achieving the highest average points score ever recorded at West Kirby Grammar School. An outstanding 14.7% of all grades were awarded at A*, while 38% of grades were achieved at A/A*, the highest proportion in the school's history. 65.2% of grades were awarded at A* - B and 85.1% at A* - C, with students achieving an average grade of B across all subjects studied.
Twenty-five students achieved straight A/A grades* across all three, four or five of their A Levels, with seven students securing three or more A* grades. Internal analysis also indicates that students have once again made excellent progress from their GCSE starting points, continuing West Kirby Grammar School's long tradition of helping students exceed expectations.
The breadth of excellence across the curriculum has been equally impressive. Outstanding outcomes have been achieved across arts, humanities, languages, mathematics and the sciences, reflecting the strength of teaching throughout the school and the opportunity for students to pursue the subjects that genuinely inspire them.
While these academic achievements are rightly celebrated, they tell only part of the story of this remarkable year group.
Throughout their time in the Sixth Form, this cohort has played an exceptional role in shaping the culture of the school. They have demonstrated that academic excellence and personal development go hand in hand, creating a community where intellectual curiosity, independent study and high aspirations sit comfortably alongside kindness, friendship and a genuine commitment to one another.
Whether leading student initiatives, mentoring younger pupils, performing on stage, representing the school in sport, contributing to charity work or embracing the extensive enrichment opportunities available, these students have helped create a Sixth Form community that is ambitious, inclusive and deeply supportive. They leave not only with outstanding qualifications, but with the confidence, character and experiences that will enable them to thrive wherever their next steps take them.
The destinations secured by this year's students reflect both their talent and ambition. Students will now move on to a wide range of exciting opportunities, including some of the country's most competitive university courses, degree apprenticeships and professional pathways. Whatever route they have chosen, each student leaves West Kirby Grammar School exceptionally well prepared for the future.
These achievements are the culmination of years of dedication from students, the expertise and commitment of staff, and the unwavering encouragement of parents and carers, whose partnership with the school continues to play such an important role in students' success.
As this cohort now becomes part of the school's growing alumni community, everyone at West Kirby Grammar School looks forward to following their future journeys with enormous pride. They leave having made an outstanding contribution to the life of the school and with every confidence that they will continue to make a positive difference to the communities and professions they go on to serve.
