Why Choose Food Science & Nutrition?

Good nutrition plays a vital role in our health and wellbeing.  Today’s media is filled with stories about food and diet as we learn more about their importance in our lives, and the food industry is changing rapidly as society increasingly questions what we eat and where we source it from.

On this course you will study the science of food safety and hygiene, learn about nutrition and understand peoples’ different nutritional needs.  As well as classroom-based sessions, you will gain the practical skills needed to produce quality food items.  Lessons will help you to develop a range of transferrable life skills such as independent learning, problem-solving, research, development and presenting.

If you have a genuine interest in food and health, then this course is for you.  It can lead to a variety of food-based courses at university and is relevant to many careers in a range of industries such as catering, nutrition, sports coaching, leisure, healthcare and science.
