Teacher of Business & Economics
Permanent, part time (0.6 FTE). Required for January 2022 (UPS/MPS)
The Governors of this outstanding Grammar School wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Business and Economics for January 2022. The post is part-time (0.6 FTE). The ability to teach A-level Economics, A-level Business and GCSE Business is essential. A strong degree in Business or Economics is ideally sought, although candidates with a degree in a closely related discipline are welcome to apply. This post would suit a newly qualified practitioner, for whom extensive support and encouragement will be given, or a more experience practitioner.
The Business and Economics Department at WKGS has grown in popularity over the last five years, and is based in ‘Easedale’, which is a separate building housing the Sixth Form study area and the Business Centre. Business is taught at GCSE and both Business and Economics are taught at A-level, with the majority of lessons being taught within the Business Centre. Students follow a three-year KS4 GCSE course at WKGS and from Year 9 have five 50-minute lessons per fortnight. A-level students have six lessons each week and classes are usually shared between two teachers, with topics being allocated according to their area of speciality.
The subject options are an extremely popular choice for students both GCSE and A-level. The department is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and engaging member of staff who will enable students to deepen their understanding of topics, through their passion for the subject. Students have achieved successful results over the years with the department, maintaining 100% pass rate for both GCSE and A-level.
There are numerous additional activities offered and the department runs a variety of trips each year, along with organising visiting speakers, in order to enhance and develop each students learning experience.
West Kirby Grammar School is a very successful selective girls’ school with a coeducational Sixth Form. There are over 1200 students on roll and our results are outstanding.
