North West Education Conference – Teachers Leading Teachers

1st July 2022  |  The Holiday Inn  | Ellesmere Port | Cost £75

Our title is “Teachers Leading Teachers” as we believe that current practitioners are well-placed to discuss what works in the classroom and how to put research into action.  We know that teaching staff often feel that they learn best from each other and can support education moving forward when research and educational theory can be discussed with fellow practitioners considering its application in specific contexts.

Following strange times, a broad and diverse community of educators across all key phases will have the opportunity to come together to move forward in our learning, training, planning and research.  Participants will have identified the areas that are of importance to them in their classroom today and staff are taking back the leadership of their subjects, classes and teams as we move forward.

This conference is our chance to make the content relevant for our classes now.  The conference is one day of ideas, discussion, inspiration, sharing and celebration that we hope will spark ongoing conversations and relationships.

We are delighted to welcome Mary Myatt as our keynote speaker for the day.

Mary is an education adviser, writer and speaker. She curates Myatt & Co where she works with colleagues to develop thoughtful work on the curriculum and wider school improvement. She trained as an RE teacher and is a former local authority adviser and inspector. Drawing on her work with pupils, teachers and leaders she writes and speaks about learning, leadership and the curriculum. She has worked in small schools, for large trusts, national and international organisations. Her education philosophy is underpinned by several principles: that all children deserve rich demanding work, that high quality talk underpins learning, that human beings are curious and that they find deep work very satisfying. Mary has written extensively about leadership, school improvement and the curriculum.

Along with the session led by Mary, the £75 course fee includes three other sessions (see below), networking opportunities and lunch/refreshments. Further sessions will be added in due course, currently we are offering:

  • Creating a diverse and inclusive curriculum
  • Instructional coaching
  • Drama strategies across the key stages
  • Constructing a meaningful Personal Development pathway

A goody bag and access to the Holiday Inn Hotel gym and pool facilities are also included.
