Year 10 fieldtrip to the Lake District & Upper Teesdale
Year 10 Geographers experienced some learning outside of the classroom on a packed three day fieldtrip to the Lake District and Upper Teesdale which included a visit to the magnificent High Force waterfall. They were shown around Cockermouth to see the issues surrounding the recent flooding and undertook some ecosystems work at a Forestry Commission location. After staying overnight at Ambleside Youth Hostel the group travelled to Upper Teeside to discover the source of the River Tees towards the sea. They were inspired to follow the route taken by a sixth former, Elliot Brown, in the Channel 4 educational TV programme about rivers. On the final day they returned to the Lake District to Grasmere and Keswick to study Human geography.
