German Exchange

The German Exchange programme between West Kirby Grammar School and the Freiherr vom Stein School in Gladenbach has been running for over 40 years, established in 1980 and took place annually until the COVID-19 pandemic. A group of WKGS students from Year 10, together with a group from Calday Grammar School, travelled to Gladenbach, to experience life with German students, in their homes and in school.  A programme was organised which gave students a taste of life in Germany including attendance in lessons, and visits to local places of interest such as Grimmwelt to learn about the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and the historic, university town of Marburg.

The return visit by the German school will take place in June when the German students will be hosted by their UK partners and a programme of events will be organised during the school day for the visiting students.
