GCSE Results 2019
The dedication of staff and students at West Kirby Grammar School has paid off once again, as results continue to soar. More than 16% of all grades were grade 9, while the very top grades of 9/8 or A* made up close to 40% of all grades. In fact, 51 students (almost a third of the year group), achieved 10 or more 9-7 (A*/A) grades.
Finding a student’s passion is very important at West Kirby and the very broad GCSE curriculum offered facilitates this. Consequently, 66% of all students achieved grades 8 and 9 in their results.
While the actual grades achieved are exceptional, more importantly, students have excelled in terms of progress made. Although the new style GCSE are more challenging, the resilience of our students and their determination to succeed means that students have been rewarded with fabulous outcomes. Some students have overcome some real challenges to achieve their GCSE results this year, and we could not be prouder of them.
We are delighted that the vast majority of students have chosen West Kirby Grammar School for their Sixth Form studies and are looking forward to welcoming them back in September.
