Food & Co at WKGS

Dining at West Kirby Grammar School is provided by Sodexo through its Food & Co school food offer.

Food & Co provides students with a varied choice of freshly prepared food throughout the school day, with food available at breakfast, morning break and lunchtime. The Autumn 2026 menus have been refreshed to provide greater choice, variety and flexibility, including traditional favourites, internationally inspired dishes, street-food-style options and an expanded range of convenient grab-and-go food.

The new lunchtime menu includes hot main meals alongside potted and handheld choices, loaded jacket potatoes, pizza, toasted paninis, filled breads, salads, fresh fruit and desserts. Vegetarian and plant-based options are available throughout the menu.

Our Autumn 2026 Menu

The Food & Co Autumn 2026 menu operates on a three-week rotation and offers students a wide range of choices each day.

Alongside the daily hot menu, students can choose from a variety of potted and handheld dishes and jacket potatoes with classic or changing toppings. Pizza by the slice, freshly toasted paninis, filled breads, salads and freshly cut fruit are also available each day.

The menu includes a wide range of vegetarian and plant-based choices, with dishes clearly identified on the menu. Sodexo's menus meet the current statutory School Food Standards and hold Bronze Food for Life accreditation. Red Tractor certified meat is also used within the catering offer.

Paying for food – our cashless catering system

WKGS operates a fully cashless catering system.

Students can choose from the range of food and drinks available at breakfast, morning break and lunchtime and pay at the till using either their registered fingerprint or their personal catering code.

Parents and carers can add funds to their child's catering account through SCOPAY, and purchases made through the catering system can be reviewed online. Students therefore do not need to bring cash to school to purchase food.

We recommend that parents and carers ensure there are sufficient funds available on their child's SCOPAY account where they intend to use the catering service regularly.

GO to SCOPAY

Free School Meals

Students who are eligible for Free School Meals receive a daily catering allowance of £4.00.

The allowance is applied automatically through the school's cashless catering system when the student purchases food at the till, so there is no difference in the way an eligible student uses the catering service.

The £4.00 daily FSM allowance does not appear as a credit on the student's SCOPAY account. The till system automatically takes the daily allowance into account. Where a student's purchases exceed the £4.00 daily allowance, the additional amount must be funded from money added to their catering account through SCOPAY. Only expenditure above the £4.00 daily allowance will reduce the student's SCOPAY balance.

Further information about eligibility and how to apply for Free School Meals can be found on our Free School Meals page.

The Food Cube – exclusively for Sixth Form

Sixth Form students also have access to our dedicated Food Cube, providing an additional catering outlet specifically for Years 12 and 13.

The Food Cube gives Sixth Form students a convenient additional choice during the school day, with a broad range of food and drink including Sixth Form-only hot food options, grab-and-go products, canned drinks, crisps and confectionery.

Sixth Form students can continue to use the main school catering facilities as well as the Food Cube, giving them a wider choice of where and what to eat during the school day.

Healthy choices and School Food Standards

Sodexo's Food & Co menus are designed to provide students with nutritious food alongside the variety and choice that young people value. The menus comply with the current statutory School Food Standards and include a broad range of vegetarian and plant-based options. Food & Co also holds Bronze Food for Life accreditation and uses Red Tractor certified meat.

The Department for Education is currently updating the national School Food Standards. Sodexo is already preparing its school catering offer for the forthcoming requirements, and WKGS will continue to work with Sodexo as the revised standards are introduced.

Allergies and dietary requirements

Allergen information is available from the catering team and students with an allergy, intolerance or other dietary requirement are encouraged to speak to the Food & Co team so that appropriate choices can be discussed.

If your child has a significant food allergy or medical dietary requirement, please ensure that the school is also aware through the usual student medical information arrangements.

Meal Deals and Price Lists

Alongside the wider Food & Co offer, a range of meal deals and individually priced items are available throughout the school day.

Meal deals are designed to provide good value and make it easier for students to choose a complete meal or snack combination at breakfast, break and lunchtime. The range available may vary during the year as menus and promotions are updated.

Our latest meal deal information and catering price lists can be viewed below. These documents show the current prices for the main food and drink options available through the school catering service.

Please note that menus, meal deals and prices may occasionally change during the year. We will update the information on this page whenever revised details are provided by Food & Co.
