Students regularly apply to WKGS from the Wirral, Chester, North Wales, Liverpool, Warrington and beyond. All Year 7 students need to pass the 11+, which is administered by the Local Authority. Students in Year 6 wishing to come to the school will need to sit the 11+ papers.

Applying from Wirral

All students, both local and those living outside of the area, will take the tests at one of the Grammar schools based in Wirral. In order to apply, the admissions process for your local authority will need to be followed and a ‘Test Request’ form will need to be returned to Wirral Local Authority (contact via the address above). This is required to ensure that the correct number of test papers are ordered. You will need to place West Kirby Grammar School as your preference on your home Local Authority admissions form.


Applying from Outside Wirral

If applying from Liverpool or Cheshire, you should obtain a preference form from the primary school or your Local Authority.

If applying from Wales you will need to complete a Wirral Local Authority form.
