Students show their drive for success at Jaguar Landrover
On Tuesday 11th July, a group of Year 12 pupils visited the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Halewood, as part of the Impact Day experience.
The pupils were given a tour of the plant, observing the production and manufacturing processes involved in the journey, whereby the sheet metal began its’ journey as a simple commodity to the finalised model rolling off the factory floor.
They were fully briefed on health and safety regulations and were thrilled to wear all of the safety equipment provided! The guides gave a comprehensive talk on the history of the development of Jaguar Land Rover, before they went on to watch each stage of the process. From the press shop, to constructing the body, to the paint process and finalising the specification of each individualised model.
The guides explained how they have implemented Total Quality Management and Just-In-Time ordering. Along with substantial capital investment and the development of technology and robotics, the brand has now become a global business and forerunner of the industry.
