Stewart House is named after an ex-governor of the school; Lady Henrietta Ellen Stewart. She was born in 1876 and died in 1946, lived in Hoylake and married the businessman and politician Sir Gershon Stewart KBE. Interestingly he opposed the suffragette movement in Parliament and was one of the few MP’s that visited the Western Front in 1915.
Here in Stewart house we are very proud of our participation in house events, all students are encouraged to take part regardless of talents and abilities. It is the willingness to take part that is important to us (we do like to win too!!) but that is not the be all and end all. Our excellent House Captains make sure that everyone is motivated and they organise the practices and rehearsals for house events, such as House music and gym, we have recently celebrated 2nd place in both these events and hope to continue our success into the New Year.
