Health and Social Care is offered at both KS4 and KS5 as an opportunity to develop further skills and knowledge within a vibrant sector of society. The topics covered are interesting and engaging and are taught through classroom based teaching and interaction with outside agencies.

This course is an exciting opportunity to gain knowledge of all aspects of health and social care. Through this course you gain an understanding of how different aspects of healthcare and social sector work. It allows you to see how people are encouraged to help themselves to live healthy, independent lives as well as showing you the facilities and services available to those who may need extra help. The variety of topics covered include looking at the factors that both positively and adversely affect development, the skills and techniques used by practitioners used to treat people within suitable care settings and understanding the services on offer within the care sector.
This course complements a great many of the curriculum subjects and is a useful platform of learning for studying Health and Social Care at A level, plus access to higher education and training for employment.

At A level, you will engage in the process of providing health and social care. By examining the issues that affect the quality of life you should have a greater awareness of how health and well-being are encouraged.
Health and social care actively engages you to develop as effective and independent learners.
It encourages you to understand aspects of personal development. Through investigation and evaluation of a range of services and organisations you will begin to understand the health, social and early years sectors.
The course allows you to develop a critical and analytical approach to problem solving within the health sectors, examining issues that affect the nature and quality of human life and an appreciation of social diversity and cultural issues.
