Giving a voice to young people in Europe
Last month we went to Courpièrre as the British delegates of the European Conference on the topic of the voice of young people. It is safe to say this trip was one of the most enriching experiences of our lives. We met friends for life, discussed topics that really mattered to us, and made amazing memories. In this trip we were able to see the world from so many different perspectives, and learnt about a diverse range of political systems and youth participation.
Firstly, each team presented on their country’s perspective on how young people express themselves. We were then put in international teams, with whom we worked on a creative way of presenting topics such as links with young people and people in power, ways for young people to creatively express themselves and votes for 16 year olds. With these teams we also competed in friendly games, and finally the trip was rounded off with a Eurovision competition, which was extremely fun.
