Each year we hold 11+ assessment familiarisation sessions for Year 5 students who will be taking their assessment at West Kirby Grammar School in September. There will be no practice sessions the week before the actual tests as the 11+ is based on the Year 5 National Curriculum. The tests will comprise of two papers each approximately 50 minutes in duration with a break of 20 minutes in between.
As CEM, (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring, Durham University), do not provide any practice test papers we would like to familiarise the girls with the layout of the school, where they will be sitting to take the tests and run through the instructions on how to complete the papers. These will be provided both orally by CD recording and visually on the test papers. Information regarding the assessment can be found on the Wirral.gov.uk website under Schools and Learning/Schools Admissions/Apply for a Primary or Secondary School place/Assessment for Grammar School and clicking on “Download a booklet that explains how the tests will work – contains sample questions”.
The dates for our familiarisation sessions are in June of each year. Each session will follow the same pattern so your daughter should not attend both sessions.
The programme commences at 4:30pm finishing at 5:30pm. Please register at 4.20pm in the Main Reception and then go to the Hall, where there will be a short talk for parents and our Headteacher or Deputy Head will endeavour to answer any questions you may have.
A booking form for the 11+ Familiarisation sessions becomes available after Easter each year.
We are looking forward to meeting you and your daughter/ward.
